Shh it's a secret!

I bought this off of Etsy today and I am really excited by it! I have a particular friend in mind for this one. Anyways, I just wanted to share the sparklies with all of you. It's sterling silver with Swarovski Crystals.

Mini Henry!

My friend posted one of these desktop Henrys to me in the mail. I had to laugh when I opened up the box. It might actually make cleaning my desk more fun!

Original Art Cards

I am excited about the new listing in my Etsy shop. It's work that I'm really proud of!

I have made up a set of greeting cards where the featured embellishment on the front is a removable piece of original artwork. My first series is the Kitty Kat series, but I intend to do another series and recreate the whimsical owls that I made for a previous swap.

The Chatty AB Team

Yesterday night, I joined the Alberta Street Team for their weekly chat. What a fun and talkative team! The chat from 8-9 covered all kinds of topics- from cookies to bras and surgery. It got a bit crazy a few times!

The chat from 9-10 was very informative. We did a friendly critique of MyHappyHome's shop. I learned quite a bit and I know what I want to work on in my own shop now too-like the policies and the photos. I'm going to work on tweaking those things this next week and hopefully I will feel confident enough to ask them to do my shop sometime. I know I could use the extra help!

Giveaway!

The Little Prints is having a giveaway. Find out more here!

Think Spring

Well, it is a sunny winter's day here in Alberta. A great day to go for a walk-- I'm going to try for one after I finish work.

My fingers are definitely getting itchy for spring though. In a few weeks time, I will be starting up again at my seasonal job in the garden centre. We will be transplanting tiny seedlings like tomatoes, petunias, violets, portulaca, marigolds into larger containers so that they can grow. It's relaxing work and I am looking forward to it very much.

I am thinking happy thoughts and thinking spring :)

Is it (Doughnut) Wednesday already?

I say this to myself every Wednesday- Wednedays are memorable for me. I am part of the community band and they rehearse Wednesday evenings. After rehearsal a bunch of us usually go out for a glass of wine and some nibbles: usually mini doughnuts.

We've been visiting a new restaurant in town that makes home-made mini doughnuts. They are better than the ones at the summer fair! They are so good but this weekly doughnut fetish really does have to stop. I'm just asking for a heart attack!

Happy Pancake Day!

It's Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday..or as I like to call it...Pancake Day!! Yum. :)

I love pancakes and I do intend to make some tonight. I prefer to make the crepe style of pancake and my favourite topping is banana and nutella. I blame this discovery on the trip I took to Paris 3 years ago. The French sure do know how to dress up some cooked batter!

New HornCat Painting

Well it was Family Day here in Alberta which means that I had some free time to finally paint up my HornCat logo. I am very happy with the results :)

Along the bottom of the painting, I stuck on little bits of shredded music. I edged the little bits in a mixture of paint and turpentine first and then stuck them on while the paint was still wet (oils).

Sunday Special

Well it's Sunday again which means that I'm going to share another great Etsy find!

Today I am sharing Pat the Sock Monkey. He is one of Canada's biggest and fans and with the start of the Olympics this week, I definitely think he deserves to be featured. Don't you think so too?

You can find him and his other friends at http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=33384076

New Computer Smell

My new MacBook Pro arrived today! Hurray! I am quite thrilled (if you couldn't tell). This is the 3rd Mac I've owned and I never seem to get tired of the brand new Mac smell. I know I probably sound crazy, but I prefer it even over new car smell- now that says a lot!

Oops!

I would like to use Sundays tofeature something or someone that I find interesting. Unfortunately this weekend got away from me and I was unable to do post something. Oops! Well we'll just pretend that it's Tuesday shall we?

Well, I have to admit that when I found this, I thought it was hilarious! I found this on Etsy at HahaBird's shop, and there's more too. Don't like the Tom Selleck look? How about Charlie Chaplin? Or a traditional handlebar moustache? Talk about creativity!

New Computer

I ordered my brand new MacBook Pro today and am anticipating its arrival! I chose to get one of the aluminum cased computers because I am trying to reduce the amount of plastic in my life. The stuff is everywhere and if you sit down and think about it, it's sickening really.
My old computer, although well-loved, died unexpectedly just before Christmas.
It was a sad day; I lost 4 years worth of photos and music; mostly from when I was living in Europe. I had been talking about backing up my computer the week that it happened, but obviously the computer had heard me talking and decided it couldn't hold on any longer. I took it in to have the files retrieved but unfortunately it's going to be a ridiculously expensive venture so for now I deal with the loss of the files.

Since then, I have been relying on my work computer and a computer I borrowed off of my parents. I'm very lucky to have such nice parents!
